WHO WE ARE AT THE CHAPEL
South Park Chapel is an Evangelical Christian Church in Ilford. We believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, and we try to live our lives in obedience to his commands. We think that the Good News about Jesus is Good News for all people today, and our services are open to anyone who wants to find out more.
We believe that the Bible contains all we need to know about how to be right with God, and it guides us in all matters of faith and conduct. This is why much of our work at South Park Chapel is focused on explaining the Bible, and what it means for people today.
We hold to the humbling truths of God’s sovereign grace in the salvation of lost sinners. Salvation is through Christ alone and by faith alone. We hope to use this site to promote the Truth of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and to provide a means of encouragement for our brothers and sisters throughout the world. Thank you for taking the time to visit.
1. South Park Chapel exists to make Jesus Christ Known.
2. We aim to disciple and encourage those attending South Park Chapel in our Christian life-in particular through Bible Study and Exposition.
3. We want to support and strengthen the Church locally, across the UK and Worldwide.

MESSAGE FROM THE ELDERS
“Our ambition for South Park Chapel is that it is a place where people can find new life in Jesus Christ, and become more like Him. In this way, we believe that you can enjoy true satisfaction in this life, and have assurance of eternal life with God.
“The Bible is central to what we do. The Bible contains all we need to know about God, and how we can become his friends. It is a reliable, historically accurate description of God’s dealings with humanity, and it introduces us to Jesus -the Saviour of the World.
“The sad thing about our world is that as a race, we have rejected God, and we keep on trying to do things our own way. Just think of the cruel things that people have done to each other in the past 100 years, and the damage we are doing to our planet too. Because of these things, God will one day judge us according to what we have done -and the fact is we are guilty! We don’t have a defence. However, God does not want to punish us -he wants to give us new life. And the good news is that there is a way for this to happen: Jesus willingly came to our world, to take the punishment that all of us deserved. When he was crucified 2,000 years ago, he bore the sins of all the world in his own body. He died instead of you and me.
“The thing is, he was sinless -he had never done anything wrong in his life! Therefore death could not hold on to him, and he came back to life again. Just as he died in our place, so he also has given us new life, so that even if we die physically, we will be raised up to live eternally.
“We just have to believe in him -that he paid for our sins and that he is the way we can become God’s friends.
“Knowing that your sins are forgiven is immensely liberating. There is nothing you have to do, and no guilt that you have to carry around anymore. Because God has forgiven you, you are able to forgive others. Knowing you are forgiven and accepted by God means that you can accept yourself -whatever you are like- and this is the first step on the road to change. You do not have to remain captive to the old ways -to carry on with destructive patterns of behaviour or unhelpful attitudes. You can start to live as God wants you to, because he gives you the ability to do so. The fruit of God’s Spirit, who comes to dwell in all those who put their trust in Jesus, is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.
“We hope that you meet with God at South Park Chapel, and find life in its fullness through Jesus.”
The Chapel has been in existence since 1905. It was founded by faithful men who obeyed God and carried out their God given vision to see to it that the Word of God was preached in a non compromised way. The history is well documented in booklet form and is available in PDF format.
South Park Chapel is led by a group of three elders.
